Chris K. Jones
Managing Partner
Chris started his first company at 23, providing outsourced CFO services to start-ups and small businesses in Princeton. As his practice grew, he became more involved with early-stage technology companies. After raising over $2MM for a text-to-speech company in 2000, he negotiated the sale of the company’s software to Microsoft. From there, he took his proceeds from the sale and invested in a mobile gaming company in 2001.
With contracts ready to be signed and a small investment on 08/31/2001, the company was about to take off. The unfortunate events of 9/11 brought down the Twin Towers and had every big company halt their new projects. Chris stretched the money to the end of the year, but the company could not be saved. Chris was on the verge of bankruptcy but restarted his consulting business and built it back up, winning a “40 Under 40 Award” and “Westchester SCORE Entrepreneur of the Year”.
He later sold the company to go into business with the Durante cousins and co-founded a construction equipment rental company in the heart of the recession in September 2009. As CFO, he guided Durante Rentals, raising over $50MM in debt financing and expanding from 1 to 11 locations over ten years in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. In 2019, Chris led the sale of the company to Toronto Private Equity firm Clairvest Group.
Chris is a 3x “CFO of the Year Winner” and “SBA Entrepreneur of the Year”. in 2019, Chris formed Think Strong Ventures to invest in early-stage companies.
